Denholm & McKay opened in 1870 and grew into the largest department store in Massachusetts outside Boston. The store closed in 1973, but the Denholm Building still stands on Main Street, and its vacant storefront windows now serve as galleries for public art and exhibits celebrating Worcester's history.
