Build Your Own North Pole Express Wagon

Join us in the greenhouse for our North Pole Express woodworking workshop, part of our Santa’s Workshop season.

Across two 90-minute sessions on November 28 and December 5, children will follow a simple blueprint to build their own small decorative Christmas wagon. They’ll practice measuring, sanding, hammering, and using a screwdriver as their project comes together—one piece at a time!

NOVEMBER 28 — SANTA’S LITTLE BUILDERS

We’ll begin with tool safety, explore our wagon blueprint, and discover how the wooden pieces fit together.

Children will:

• Identify, measure, and mark their wagon pieces.

• Sand the wood and smooth rough edges.

• Practice using child-sized hammers and screwdrivers.

• Assemble the wagon base and end panels.

• Begin attaching the wooden side rails.

DECEMBER 5 — READY FOR THE NORTH POLE!

Our little builders will return to finish their wagons and add their own Christmas touches.

Children will:

• Finish attaching the wagon sides.

• Attach four decorative wooden wheels.

• Add the rope handle

• Finish their wagon with festive colors and creative details.

• Take home their finished wagon, personalized with their name and workshop date.

• Celebrate with hot cocoa and homemade cookies!

Display it beside the Christmas tree, fill it with little wrapped gifts, or make it part of your family’s Christmas decorations year after year.

Personalized woodworking aprons are available as an optional add-on during registration. Already have one from a previous class? Bring it along!

Each class is 1½ hours. wood will be pre-cut and by me. Children will use age-appropriate hand tools with close adult supervision. Some tools and woodworking techniques will demonstrated by an adult only.

Inspiration photo: Each finished North Pole Express may look a little different based on the child’s age, skill level, and personal design choices. That’s part of what makes every project unique!

PARENTS & YOUNGER SIBLINGS

Parents will stay on-site. Bringing a younger sibling? They can play on the playground with your supervision or build their own project. Snowman kits are $25 and include everything needed to build and personalize one with a parent’s. Their snowman can also be engraved with their name and the year they built it, making it a fun little keepsake.
