  • Central Mass is set to celebrate New Year's Eve with various family-friendly events. Options include a party at Clover Road Brewing in Hudson from 5 to 9 p.m., baby goat cuddles at Bracken Hill Farm starting at 1 p.m., and ice skating on Worcester Common.  Telegram & Gazette
  • Yesterday, a parade in Worcester celebrated World War II veteran Richard Peters Sr — a former U.S. Army sergeant — who turned 100 at his family-run store on Grafton St. He received a key to the city and certificates from veteran groups as local officials joined in the tribute.  Telegram & Gazette
  • On Friday, Dec. 26, T and G Santa's helpers gathered donations from readers, local businesses and civic organizations to purchase toys for nearly 10,000 children in need identified by 20 partner groups including United Way of Central Massachusetts.
