  • On Dec. 6, T&G Santa helped nearly 10,000 youngsters receive toys provided by readers, local businesses, and civic organizations — a campaign led by United Way of Central Massachusetts. The drive raised a running total of $31,353.30 in donations.  Telegram & Gazette

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Netflix announced its $82.7 billion deal to purchase Warner Brothers on Dec. 5, sparking debate in the film industry about the future of theatrical releases; local independent production groups in Worcester say the deal gives them new opportunities to book Warner’s movie slots (and to drive local business activity).  This Week In Worcester

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Saturday morning, a water main break on Shore Drive caused low water pressure and discolored water for residents. City crews isolated the break and worked on repairs while Norton Drive remained closed between West Boylston Street and Shore Drive.  MassLive
  • A water main break on Shore Drive has left many homes+businesses without water while some areas only get low pressure. Crews from DPW are working on repairs as police set up detours, and residents are advised to use the 311 system for inquiries.  Telegram & Gazette
