- ➤ UMass Chan Department of Public Safety hosted its fourth annual stuff-a-cruiser food drive on Friday at UMass Chan Medical School as police cruisers were filled with grocery bags to fight food insecurity. More than 11,000 pounds of food was collected to aid Why Me and Sherry's House and Veterans Inc — with Thanksgiving nearing. Spectrum News 1
- ➤ Girls on the Run Worcester County will hold its annual 5K at Polar Park this Sunday at 10:30 a.m.—about 500 girls are expected to run along a downtown route. The race is part of an 8-week program for girls in grades three through eight that teaches goal setting and ways to handle bullying. Spectrum News 1
- ➤ A ceremony at McKeon Road Fire Station honored fallen Lt. Jason Menard, who died in 2019 while fighting a fire on Stockholm Street; friends, family, and firefighters gathered to mark the sixth anniversary of his line-of-duty death — a tribute to his lasting legacy. Telegram & Gazette

- ➤ For the past three years, Ski Ward — a family-owned recreation site — has opened ski lessons in October using a high-tech snow machine to start the season before natural snow falls; the early start gives winter sports enthusiasts a chance to learn skiing sooner. Worcester Business Journal

- ➤ The Walking Dead: Dead City will film scenes in Worcester for a third month, which will cause street closures and no-parking on roads like Mechanic, Commercial, Main and Portland from Nov. 16 to Nov. 21. - ➤ About 40 members of the Higgins family gathered at Worcester Art Museum on November 8 to preview the new Arms and Armor Galleries based on the Higgins Armory Collection—set to open to the public on November 22. Clarinda Higgins, a granddaughter of founder John Woodman Higgins, organized the reunion and said she was glad the legacy stays in Worcester rather than in Philadelphia or New York City. - ➤ Worcester has a busy week of events with live music, classic film, and comedy. Today the Glenn Miller Orchestra plays at Mechanics Hall at 3 p.m., The Wizard of Oz shows at the Hanover Theatre at 4 p.m., and jam band Odacava performs at FRONTROOM at 7 p.m. — later, Salisbury Singers, Harley’s Funhouse and a comedy show at Samuel Slater’s Restaurant in Webster are set for Nov. 16, 20 and 21 respectively. - ➤ Juan Davila ’26 from Worcester State studies business with minors in urban studies and economics and spent spring break in Pedernales in the Dominican Republic to help people and learn about nature at risk — his work is supported by awards and donor programs. He plans to use these experiences to guide his future as a business consultant. Worcester State University
- ➤ On Nov. 12, UMass Chan Medical School inducted 56 members into its Delta chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, including 34 students from the T.H. - ➤ Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson stepped in as running back after Rhamondre Stevenson was sidelined with a toe injury and scored five touchdowns in five days—three in a 27 to 14 win over the Jets on Nov. 13. He rushed 19 times for 62 yards and caught five passes for 31 yards as the team improved to 9 to 2. MassLive
- ➤ Mack Hollins wore a white shirt with the crisis lifeline number 988 during Thursday night's Patriots win—27-14 over the Jets, and said his gesture encouraged men to speak up about mental health. He stressed that even tough players can feel alone—and urged anyone in distress to seek help. MassLive
- ➤ After a Thursday win over the Jets, coach Mike Vrabel offered two recovery perks to the Patriots but team leaders declined to shorten their meeting or shift practice for better weather.
