- ➤ The Worcester Public Library marked 85 years of its bookmobile program on Nov. 8 in Salem Square by opening two buses, a van and a book bike to local visitors. - ➤ On Oct. 28, the Theatre Café in Worcester celebrated its 15th anniversary—highlighting best sellers such as a spicy Thai chicken wrap—after the owners found the property on Craigslist, and a fire on Nov. 3 left Milford’s three-story Turtle Tavern building a total loss with no injuries reported. In Brookfield, a historic factory used by Gavitt Wire & Cable will soon be retired, a Shrewsbury developer is pitching a 196-unit housing project, and an 18,000-square-foot Planet Fitness gym will open in Auburn in mid-November. - ➤ Hepsibeth Hemenway baked intricate 19th-century wedding cakes for Worcester's elite and her portrait now hangs permanently at a local museum—honoring her culinary skill and Indigenous roots. - ➤ Saylee 'Timmy' Phongsamphanh is a DNP student at UMass Chan Medical School who had four heart surgeries as a baby for tetralogy of Fallot—he now works as a psychiatric nurse at Fuller Hospital.
