  • Lady, an 8-year-old mixed breed dog, went missing on Sept. 8 in Sturbridge while her family was traveling and was found on Oct. 23 after nearly 50 days with help from Missing Dogs Massachusetts—David and Carrie Bell welcomed her safely back home.  Spectrum News 1
  • Tougas Family Farm in Northborough will host a 'Smashing Good Time' event this weekend with apple cannons and pumpkin smashing to raise funds for its seven Jamaican employees affected by Hurricane Melissa—one of the strongest Atlantic storms on record. The extra cash will help them rebuild their island as they return home to assess the damage.  Spectrum News 1

CULTURE NEWS

  • Season 2 of Squid Game: The Challenge has six players from Massachusetts among 456 global contestants competing for a $4.56 million prize on Netflix. The first four episodes were released on Nov. 4 — the next four will air on Nov. 11 and the finale on Nov. 18 — and the players include a pharmacist, a PhD student, a chemical engineer, a rabbi, a game design student, and a retired social worker.  Telegram & Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Worcester County Sheriff's Office held its annual winter coat drive to distribute 4,000 brand new coats for those in need—more than 250 coats were given out at El Buen Samaritano and another 200 at St. John's Food for the Poor Program on Thursday morning.  Spectrum News 1
  • Massport said flight cuts that took effect Friday caused delays and cancellations at Boston's Logan Airport — while Worcester regional airport was not affected as of Thursday afternoon. AAA Northeast advised air travelers to use their airline app to stay informed of any changes.  Spectrum News 1
