  • UMass Chan Cares launched its 2025 annual giving campaign today and will run through November 26 — past efforts raised nearly $1 million and more than 600 staff members volunteered 7,000 hours for over 100 nonprofits. The initiative supports local causes like education and food security while responding to current community needs.  UMass Chan Medical School

CULTURE NEWS

  • At Worcester Common, workers uncovered gravestones from the early 1700s that tell the story of the city’s first residents and Revolutionary War figures (including Jonas Rice) whose names still appear on local street signs. The Worcester Public Library is hosting an event tomorrow from (6:30 to 8:30 p.m.) as preservation efforts continue to reveal more hidden history.  Telegram & Gazette
  • A new mural showing 39 important Worcester women, including Olympic swimmer Albina Osipowich, writer Bethany Veney, and federal judge Margaret Guzman, is being painted at the corner of Francis J. McGrath Boulevard and Franklin Street. The YWCA of Central Mass leads the project—working with Clark University students and local artists—to honor the past and inspire future generations, with an unveiling planned for Women's History Month pending weather and funding.  Telegram & Gazette
