  • Morgan Gendreau-Spangenberg, owner of Made by Morgue, will show her embroidered art featuring anatomical hearts, lobotomy diagrams, and tattoo-inspired designs at the Punk Rock Flea Market on Oct. 26 at Mission Worcester Cannabis Dispensary. The stay-at-home mom who began her business at local crafts markets said her work reflects a love for odd and authentic art.  Telegram & Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • WPI researchers led by Jamal Yagoobi sent an experiment to space on Sept. 18 aboard a Blue Origin spacecraft to test a new electrohydrodynamic cooling method for electronics — the over 10-minute flight, including three minutes of weightlessness, confirmed the design's ability to lower temperatures and moves the project closer to commercialization.  Worcester Polytechnic Institute

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Douglas State Forest offers a hike to a stone marker that shows where Massachusetts—Connecticut and Rhode Island meet and starts the Tri-State Trail. Visitors can choose between an easy, flat rail trail and a steeper, rocky path while finding a nearby nature center, picnic area, and varied parking options for different seasons.  Telegram & Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The owners of the historic three-story brick building on Shrewsbury Street have proposed to convert it into 44 apartments including 39 studio units and five one-bedroom units — the plan calls for adding two floors to a rear extension and upgrading parking and outdoor amenities; the proposal will be considered by the Zoning Board of Appeals on Oct 27.  Worcester Business Journal
  • Worcester-based Branded Realty Group is developing a mixed-use site in West Boylston into three buildings with 80 affordable housing units — a joint effort with the town. The group has been cleared for sitework and hopes to start construction soon.  Worcester Business Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • St. John's team secured its sixth straight sectional title at Kettle Brook Golf Club on Tuesday after Cael Duggan shot an even-par round of 72 — a win that lets the team advance to the Division 1 state championship on Oct. 21.
