  • In Sturbridge, a new 20-foot cuckoo clock at Bird Store and More on Cedar Street attracts visitors to a secret garden with a geocache and a letterbox—new owner Kelley hopes the shop will soon be a must-stop spot.   • Cannery Music Hall in Southbridge will reopen October 3 after an eight-year break with a performance by One Live Kiss: Paul Stanley Tribute Band—this family-led project transformed a shuttered space into a venue that can seat 440 and will host shows through February.  Telegram & Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • PhD candidate Jessica Peura earned an NIH grant to study pancreatic cancer in Jason Pitarresi’s lab at Morningside Graduate School as she works to honor her Worcester-born mother (Carolyn died from leiomyosarcoma) by advancing research that may help prevent similar family losses.  UMass Chan Medical School
