- ➤ On Sept. 13, the Wings for Autism program at Worcester Regional Airport gave families a chance to practice air travel from check-in to boarding with help from TSA agents and airline crew—run by Massport and the Charles River Center. - ➤ Arthur E. Thompson grew up in West Brookfield before moving to Worcester and began selling hospital supplies in the 1920s—he started his own supply company in 1923 that grew to stock hospitals and homes until he retired in 1946. Telegram & Gazette

- ➤ A pioneering local family broke racial barriers in Worcester—Jennie Clough became the first Black female educator and first Black graduate of Worcester State as other family members set local firsts as jurors, barbers, and postmen. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ The Brazilian Festival of Worcester took place at Institute Park on September 14 with about three dozen vendors offering food, music, and capoeira performances. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UMass Chan held a ribbon cutting on Sept. 12 to open its new 40-foot hydroponic Wellness Farm that produces up to three tons of fresh produce each year to fight food insecurity in Worcester. The farm, run in partnership with local nonprofit 2Gether We Eat, will provide produce to food pantries and UMass Chan staff—boosting the school’s long-standing community support efforts.
