- ➤ Popular Worcester vocalist Paul Starvaski, who is battling Stage 4 lung cancer, will be honored at a fundraiser on Sept. 21 at Halligan’s in Auburn from noon to 6 p.m. Local bands and his longtime bandmates will perform—$20 donations at the door will support his care—and the event will include raffles, food, and live music. - ➤ The Worcester Animal Rescue League named Aimee Contois as its new executive director—she has worked as an animal control officer in Auburn—after more than 150 animals were turned away between November and April. The shelter will sign a new contract with Worcester Animal Control to help manage capacity and will soon accept voluntary surrenders and walk-in adoptions. MassLive
