  • Auburn police arrested two women after a TJ Maxx employee reported a shoplifting incident on Aug. 13—an officer in the Wendy's drive-thru spotted the suspects in a black Ford Edge carrying over $2,000 in stolen items, and both now face larceny and conspiracy charges.  Telegram & Gazette

  • Sam Whittier runs Whittier Farm, which focuses on year‑round production agriculture and a retail store selling dairy, beef and produce — Maura Stowe manages Stowe Farm, a seasonal destination offering agritourism with apple picking, hayrides, pig races and a mechanical bull for family fun.  Radio Worcester

  • The UMass Chan Medical School held its White Coat Ceremony on September 5 at the Hanover Theatre in Worcester, where 233 first-year students donned white coats to mark their entry into medicine—an event that featured outgoing Chancellor Collins receiving a standing ovation.  UMass Chan Medical School

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Worcester Pride organizing committee said on Sept. 4 that the city made last-minute financial demands and threatened to cancel future permits if these costs were not met—challenging the committee's six-month planning for today's festival.
