- ➤ Enrique Delgado-Garcia, a 25-year-old state police recruit from Worcester who became unresponsive during a boxing exercise last September, died from blunt trauma to the head that caused multiple hemorrhages—his family demands accountability and will hold a press conference around his one-year anniversary. - ➤ A 26 year old man known to police fatally shot a 57 year old father outside a school in Shrewsbury on Thursday morning after a confrontation over graffiti near Jordan Pond+ he later surrendered and will face charges today in Westborough District Court. MassLive
- ➤ On Aug. 25, a person magnet fishing pulled an AR-15 style rifle from Lake Quinsigamond at about 11:45 a.m.—police took the rifle and began an investigation. On Aug. 26, a good Samaritan helped a driver whose 2021 Hyundai Palisade partially went into the lake near a boat ramp. Telegram & Gazette

- ➤ Worcester Polytechnic Institute received a $12 million donation from late alumnus Carl Karlsson ’60 to fund early-career professorships that support faculty and benefit students. University officials said his gift — one of the largest individual donations in the school’s history — will strengthen research and teaching for years to come. MassLive
