- ➤ Ryan Wilcox was indicted by a Worcester County grand jury for the murder of Mitchell Burke after his body was found in Hubbardston in January; he pleaded not guilty during arraignment and is set to appear in Superior Court on August 27 while two others face accessory charges. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ Brian Socha, a former loan officer from Brookfield, agreed to plead guilty to bank fraud after he hacked coworkers' computers more than 20 times to change his MassMutual Federal Credit Union home equity line of credit—raising it from $135,500 to $995,000 and lowering the rate from 7.25% to 1.99%—and a plea hearing has not yet been scheduled. - ➤ Massachusetts state senators voted unanimously on Tuesday to send a bill banning cell phones in schools to a Senate committee—saying phones distract students from learning. The measure will go to a floor vote soon. 7 News Boston
