- ➤ Worcester high school held its graduation ceremony with photos and full grad lists available for local review — the event marked a milestone as students completed their studies. Telegram & Gazette
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City Council Vice-Chairman Khrystian E. King paid $390 to the state to fix late campaign finance filings after an audit from June 2023 to March 2025 found untimely deposit reports and excess contributions — he said the payment clears up the issue. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ At the Worcester City Council meeting on June 10th, which started late after the Finance Committee completed its budget work, about 60 anti-ICE protestors wearing masks interrupted the public comment section by chanting against ICE. Police responded calmly and directed staff and council members out of the room while one individual was taken into custody for a mental health issue—enough councilors left to break the quorum and end the session early. - ➤ The study—led by Dr. Gilles E. Martin of UMass Chan—found that fewer than 500 neurons help stop binge drinking. Researchers used fiber photometry and optogenetics to pinpoint these cells which may lead to new ways to treat alcohol dependence. UMass Chan Medical School
- ➤ Westborough neighbors gathered on June 7 at Prototype Training on East Main Street to learn about blood, bone marrow and living kidney donation at an event organized by Sean Moore and Kelley Petralia to support Moore, who has a serious kidney disease and faces dialysis soon.
