- ➤ Northbridge man Christopher D. LaCour, 33, is charged with manslaughter after he fatally shot his older brother at their home at 63 Legion Way on May 21, with police saying the shooting might have been accidental—he is set to return to court on July 16 after being released on personal recognizance with a condition to not possess any firearms. - ➤ Solus, a short film shot inside the Whitcomb Mansion, cleaned up at Top Shorts Film Festival last month by earning eight awards including Best Thriller, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Ensemble, and Best Cinematography. Worcester native Tommy Jay Dwyer, who both directed and starred in the film, plans to launch a full version tied to a three-film series — the win is expected to boost his future projects — and he hopes for a theatrical release by Halloween. - ➤ Clark University will change its programs into three schools and let go of about 25 percent of its faculty over the next two years because its incoming freshman class is much smaller than usual, cutting about $7 million in revenue. - ➤ Industry lobbyist Kelly Ryan from PhRMA urged lawmakers on Monday to delay a bill that would set upper price limits on prescription drugs because she said the new rules could leapfrog a cost control law enacted last December—while the Senate passed a budget rider giving regulators the power to impose these limits.
