- ➤ A Devens-based nonprofit purchased the former Presentation Health Care Center at 99 Church St.—a two-story, 19-bed building built in 1931—in a deal finalized on Thursday for $2.57 million. The organization will convert the facility into the Journey Home Campus to offer trauma-informed, ADA-compliant housing that combats veteran homelessness in Leominster. Worcester Business Journal

- ➤ Great River Hydro of Westborough, which runs 13 dams that once powered local industries including in Worcester, is studying ways to update its century-old hydropower facilities for better efficiency. The company received a $93,000 award from MassCEC so the upgrades can help power homes for the next 50 years. Worcester Business Journal

- ➤ Former state Sen. Dean A. Tran pleaded guilty to larceny of a firearm, witness intimidation and filing a false application for a license to carry after allegedly intimidating an elderly constituent into giving him her late husband’s firearms in June 2019—he was sentenced to six months at Worcester County House of Correction to be served concurrently with his federal term. - ➤ Out to Lunch and Movies on the Common will take place on Worcester Common Oval this summer with Out to Lunch expanding to 10 events from June 18 to Aug 12 and receiving a $100,000 grant that funds a new stage and extended hours—Movies on the Common will start June 12 with films like 'The Wizard of Oz' on a new LED screen. - ➤ Gov. Maura Healey demanded immediate details from ICE about Saturday’s reported arrest of a Milford High School junior on his way to volleyball practice—she said local officials were left in the dark about his detention. Worcester Business Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UFCW Local 1445, which represents over 1,000 UMass Memorial workers, issued a 10-day strike notice on May 31 after holding rallies over outsourcing and unsafe staffing. If no agreement is reached before the contract expires on June 8, workers will vote on June 6—potentially leading to a strike starting Monday, June 9. This Week In Worcester
- ➤ A House-approved bill passed last week that could force up to 100,000 people to lose their subsidized coverage from the Health Connector while nearly 150,000 more lose MassHealth eligibility.
