- ➤ Hooters in Shrewsbury announced on Wednesday, May 27 that the restaurant will close soon at its Boston Turnpike location next to Fairlawn Plaza, and the chain thanked the community for years of support while continuing to operate its other locations in Saugus, Dedham, and West Springfield. - ➤ Charlton-based manufacturer MTD Micro Molding named Chad Nikel as its new CEO Tuesday (he formerly led Elevaris Medical Devices in Wilmington). He will build on the company expansion completed in 2022 and support programs others won't take on. Worcester Business Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Worcester Public Schools showcased the Class of 2026 valedictorians (from three continents) who overcame language challenges to excel. The graduates will attend colleges including Boston College, Messina College, and Clark University as a testament to their achievement and the district's support. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ WPI announced today that Lisa Barton ’87 (CEO of Alliant Energy) and John Marczewski ’85 P’23 (a seasoned executive) will serve five-year terms on the Board of Trustees beginning July 1. - ➤ Milford real estate firm Lioce Properties Group has merged with Waltham’s Lamacchia Realty to strengthen its presence in south MetroWest and Worcester County. The merger adds one staff member and 10 agents to the firm, and the Milford office will continue operating while financial terms remain undisclosed. Worcester Business Journal
- ➤ Michael O’Rourke is seeking approval to convert a five-story warehouse at 1 Jackson St. into 32 affordable apartments. The proposal is under review by the Worcester Zoning Board of Appeals. Worcester Business Journal
