- ➤ On Memorial Day, flags flew at half-staff from sunrise until noon and then were raised to full-staff across the state. Gov. Healey ordered flags to return to half-staff until sunset on Monday, June 8, when Congressman Barney Frank's interment will take place. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ The summer schedule for the MBTA Commuter Rail went into effect Monday, with changes on several lines and an increased service run from June 8 to July 12 for World Cup fans traveling to Foxboro at Gillette Stadium (which underwent renovations for the games). 7 News Boston

- ➤ Tommy Cassell compiled last week’s top baseball performances for readers to vote on and announced Leicester’s Robert O’Neil as the winner with 1,980 votes + narrowly beating South’s Noah Jolly based on local game reports. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ Local sports fans voted for the Hometeam Softball Player of the Week presented by the YMCA of Central Mass. Millbury's Brielle Brothers received 5,255 votes (36 percent) to beat challengers including Leominster's Cali Gevrekakis. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ Holy Cross baseball, fresh off its second Patriot League title, will face No. 6 seed Texas at 1 p.m. May 29 in the Austin Regional bracket of the NCAA Tournament. This will be the team's first time making consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances since the early 1960s. Telegram & Gazette
