- ➤ The Appalachian Mountain Club and Park Spirit Worcester will host TrailsFest at Institute Park on June 6. - ➤ WBJ managing editor Eric Casey was named Journalist of the Year by the Alliance of Area Business Publishers at its summer conference in Wilmington, North Carolina. - ➤ Worcester-based Dream Big Wealth Strategies joined New Jersey-based Cornerstone Planning Group Monday as it brings $60 million in assets to the advisor platform. - ➤ Barney Frank, a longtime Massachusetts lawmaker and the first U.S. congressman to come out as gay, died on May 19 after hospice care in Maine. He served from 1981 to 2013 and helped pass financial reforms such as the Dodd-Frank Act. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ The Radio Roundtable discussed Merit House Media’s recent purchase of Pulse Magazine and reviewed concerns about repairing the aging police headquarters (which needs about $20 million in fixes) while debating rent control policies that may slow new housing. Radio Worcester
HEALTH NEWS

- ➤ UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science received a seven-year, $50 million NIH grant renewal that supports research projects, workforce training and new clinical trial platforms. - ➤ Phillip Tai, PhD, received a $1.6 million grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to study adeno-associated viral vectors using long-read DNA sequencing technology at UMass Chan. - ➤ Researchers at UMass Chan are testing new ways to improve care for pregnant patients with type 2 diabetes by comparing continuous glucose monitors and adding in-hospital postpartum testing.
