EDUCATION NEWS

  • UMass Chan Medical School is set to celebrate more than 300 graduating students and honor outstanding faculty during its 53rd Commencement week. Awards events begin Thursday, May 28 at the Albert Sherman Center Cube; Sunday’s ceremony starts at noon on the campus green (livestreamed on YouTube).  UMass Chan Medical School
  • Assumption University graduated 304 students at the DCU Center on May 17 with speakers urging them to light the way, take time to rest, and embrace joy as they start their next chapter.   • Worcester Police Memorial Sunday honored 14 fallen officers, including former Chief Gary J. Gemme (the department's longest-serving chief), at the ceremony held at the police memorial rotary, with local officials praising their community service as the tradition coincided with National Police Week.  Telegram & Gazette

  • Assumption's softball team advanced to its first NCAA Division II Super Regional after winning the final game against Mercy (9 to 0) with a six run rally led by Maddy Bland.
