Good morning, Worcester. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 10th of May.
COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A WalletHub report said Massachusetts is best for working moms, but many local mothers say high child care costs and low paid leave make it hard to balance work and family. One mother from Southborough said she will return to work on May 11 after receiving only 60% pay during her leave — a sign of the tough choices many face. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ Police Sgt. Christopher Polselli of Millbury started a weekly hide-and-seek game by hiding a special coin with a police logo on one side and St. Michael on the other while on traffic duty—residents can use posted clues to either keep the coin or trade it for a ride-along. He said the game has deepened community ties and sparked interest in local history—more clues will be shared this summer. Telegram & Gazette
- ➤ More than 100 residents marched from City Hall to police headquarters on May 9 to protest a May 8 ICE raid that led to the arrest of a local woman’s daughter—protesters claim local police were too quick to cooperate with federal agents and say their actions mark a growing call for accountability.
