ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Steve Walsh from Shrewsbury was injured by falling debris in the stairwell at the Federal Plaza Garage near Hanover Theatre on March 8, and city officials said the closed stairwell will be completely replaced this summer—patrons may use the rear stairs and elevators to access the garage.  Telegram & Gazette

CULTURE NEWS

  • Worcester native singer-songwriter Roger Salloom will appear at FRONTROOM at WCUW on May 10 at 4 p.m. for a screening of the documentary So Glad I Made It, followed by a question-and-answer session and a solo acoustic set — tickets cost $12 in advance and $15 at the door.   • WPI faculty were chosen as 2025 summer fellows at the Center for Project-Based Learning—receiving time, funds and support to create new course materials. Their projects will include indigenous learning methods, a writing toolkit for two-year colleges and technology integration to help teachers reach more students.  Worcester Polytechnic Institute
  • Worcester State University will host its 2025 Alumni Reunion Weekend from May 30 to June 2 — featuring a cocktail reception on May 30, a Champagne Toast and Golden Grads Luncheon on May 31, a Birthday and Reunion Brunch on June 1, and a Foundation Golf Tournament at Kettle Brook Golf Course on June 2 to honor coach George Albro ’65.  Worcester State University

  • Worcester City Council will review Police Chief Saucier's 13‐page critique of a Justice Department report today at 6:30 p.m. in the Esther Howland Chamber—his document alleges the report contains mistakes in its account of police use of force and sexual assault investigations following a request from Council vice chairman Khrystian E.   • Worcester City Manager Eric Batista updated residents on Talk of the Commonwealth that the city is reforming its police after a DOJ report — he also warned that federal funding cuts and a growing unhoused population are pressuring the city while discussions with local colleges and plans for Polar Park finances continue — to address ongoing civic challenges.  Radio Worcester
