  • St Pierre Chain & Wire Rope is a family business with over 100 years in Worcester that forged horseshoes and chains for the Navy and produces metal products on Mountain Street East. CULTURE NEWS

  • On May 3 at 4 p.m., Salisbury Singers will perform their cabaret-style concert Quilting the American Story: A Choral Celebration at All Saints Episcopal Church in Worcester, with tickets ranging from $22.50 plus fees to $27 and free options available, showcasing early American favorites and contemporary classics.  Telegram & Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Anna Maria College, founded in 1952 on a 290-acre farm purchased by the Sisters of Saint Anne, is set to close in the coming months. FINANCE NEWS

  • GFA Federal Credit Union closed its full-service branches in Ashburnham (35 Main St.) and Rutland (32 Pommogussett Road) on Friday to focus on digital banking, and all branch employees were retained with ATMs still available at each site.  Worcester Business Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State law allows passengers aged 12 or older to ride in a pickup truck bed, but drivers cannot drive more than 5 miles or above 5 mph while carrying children under 12 (except during official parades or farming) and must enforce seatbelt rules to avoid fines.  Telegram & Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • Community Healthlink, an affiliate of UMass Memorial Health, will close, leaving thousands without care and hundreds of union workers with jobs at risk. Some programs may shift to local nonprofits pending state approval (Open Sky Community Services and Clinical and Support Options), though restoring its integrated model will be difficult.  Telegram & Gazette

  • Central Massachusetts single-family home sales edged up in March with Worcester County recording 378 sales versus 338 in February, even as year-to-date sales were 3.5 percent below 2025 levels; Worcester city had 54 sales and a median price of $436,250.  Worcester Business Journal
