- ➤ Schools will be on vacation starting April 21—many local spots have planned fun events for kids and families; Old Sturbridge Village offers a hands-on farm workshop from April 23–27 with free child admission when an adult is present and the EcoTarium will host a nature walk on Earth Day at 2 p.m. at Crow Hill in Worcester. - ➤ Worcester Public Schools superintendent Rachel Monárrez announced in a letter on April 17 that she will resign at the end of June to take a superintendent job in California—she had two years left on her contract and said the move is a personal decision to be closer to her family. - ➤ Massport announced that a 20-megawatt solar field will be built on 44 acres on the Leicester side of Worcester Regional Airport and will generate 22.3 million kilowatt hours of clean energy. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028 & will deliver energy through National Grid & help lower greenhouse gas emissions. MassLive
