  • UMass has named three finalists to replace Chancellor Collins. The finalists include an internal candidate, a New York Times best seller, and a Harvard Ph.D. as the university continues its search.  Worcester Business Journal
  • At Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Quinsigamond Community College, physics and chemistry professors tested how marshmallow Peeps react under heat and vacuum conditions.   • Sen. Ryan Fattman set the stage for a new agricultural school in Worcester County when his FARM Bill amendment passed the Senate on April 1.   • Community Healthlink plans to close two women’s recovery services (Beryl’s House and Orchard Street) and its local housing program while union Local 509 will meet with state lawmakers to explore options that protect jobs and vital support services, a move affecting roughly 450 employees.  Telegram & Gazette
  • UMass Chan researchers found that gut inflammation can change nerve patterns and lead to uncoordinated muscle contractions in IBD patients. The study suggests that activating a hypoxia stress response early may protect nerves from lasting damage.  UMass Chan Medical School
