  • Today, Market on Brussels (now Market on Exchange) moved to Exchange Street after raising $500K in its inaugural season. The rebranding aims to enhance local offerings in Worcester.  Worcester Business Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A SmartAsset study (using 2024 Census data) shows that households in Massachusetts qualify as middle class when earning between $69,900 and $209,656 annually, making the state top-ranked for this income range. In Boston, households require between $65,194 and $195,582 to meet middle-class standards.  Telegram & Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fen-Biao Gao, a UMass Chan professor specializing in frontotemporal dementia research, has been named an AAAS fellow for his work in advancing disease understanding; he will join nearly 500 other scientists at the annual Fellows Forum in Washington (May).  UMass Chan Medical School

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Massachusetts law allows parking in front of houses on public streets but prohibits parking before driveways and in areas that block safety measures, and vehicles left unattended for over 72 hours may be tagged and towed by local officials.  Telegram & Gazette

  • Saint Vincent Hospital has named a former Steward Health Care executive as its chief nursing officer — filling a role that had been vacant nearly a year after Denise Kvapil left in February 2025.  Worcester Business Journal

  • Worcester’s Westview Apartment complex and adjacent commercial space sold for $12M. The property features 42 residential units and 10 commercial units including a Subway and Route 12 Cafe (per Google Maps).  Worcester Business Journal

  • Worcester officials announced that the city will host nine watch parties on Worcester Common as part of a $10M state grant provided by Gov. Healey to support FIFA World Cup festivities.
