  • Gina Llerena-Donohue is charged with bank fraud for allegedly taking Social Security benefits of a deceased person by fraudulently withdrawing over $40,000 in payments over more than 15 years—she will appear in federal court in Worcester at a later date.  Telegram & Gazette
  • Worcester Police arrested local man Derick Barjolo on gun charges after he ran during a fight near Elm Park on March 16 (police found a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket which led to charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest).  This Week In Worcester

  • Renovations at Worcester Art Museum uncovered an original brick wall from 1898 when workers removed drywall covering to install a new ADA-accessible elevator — part of its campus transformation campaign that will also feature the forthcoming Arms & Armory Galleries. EDUCATION NEWS

  • WPI robotics staff built a mine-detecting robot from spare parts that children in Afghanistan could have access to for the film Rule Breakers, which tells the story of Roya Mahboob inspiring girls to study robotics. Kenneth Stafford said the project shows that robotics is for everyone— and former professor Markus Nemitz is working on low-cost methods to detect and deactivate land mines.  Telegram & Gazette
