  • Market on Exchange returns to its original home on Exchange Street starting May 17 at 11 a.m. after a year on Brussels Street. Vendors expect better setups for food trucks and shade for stands (last year the market drew 25,000 attendees with $500,000 in sales).  MassLive

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Herb Chambers will permanently close its Millbury Alfa Romeo and Maserati dealership on March 11 as part of a broader company strategy. The closure at 2 Latti Farm Road means customers will be directed to brand websites for service details.  MassLive

CULTURE NEWS

  • EcoTarium opened a 10,000 sqft exhibit hall named the Stoddard Exhibition Hall to show The Secret Lives of Elephants, featuring interactive displays for kids and adults (honoring local benefactor Robert Stoddard).   • Country Joe McDonald, a Woodstock icon who once faced a run-in during his 1969 Worcester show, died Saturday, March 7 from Parkinson’s complications.   • Gas prices in the Worcester metro jumped from $2.91 a week ago to $3.32 on March 9, after crude oil soared 30% last week. AAA Northeast has offered 30 fuel-saving tips (like proper tire care and timely tuneups) to help drivers manage rising costs.  This Week In Worcester

  • WPI announced two new bachelor's degree programs in marketing analytics and business analytics and applied AI to equip students with data-driven skills (STEM-designated and accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).   • Worcester City Council meets today to review a resolution that would name the city an official host for Ghanaian fans during the 2026 FIFA World Cup (a move celebrating the large Ghanaian community) even as the team’s practice base remains in Providence.  Telegram & Gazette

HEALTH NEWS

  • At Oakmont Regional High School, students have been told not to bring caffeine pouches due to health risks, while Boski’s Market in Burncoat enforces a 21+ age limit for these products. A local pediatric expert warns that excessive caffeine may lead to serious health issues, especially in teens.  Telegram & Gazette

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A city fund letting developers opt out of building affordable housing has helped finance 381 affordable units across 21 projects in Worcester. Nearly $19.7 million in funds from ARPA and Community Preservation Act grants has supported both completed developments and planned projects to ease the housing shortage.  MassLive
  • Worcester permitted 546 housing units in 2025—a drop of nearly 400 from 2024—as high construction costs and steep interest rates reduced applications. The city will streamline permitting and work with developers to reach its goal of adding 12,000 new units once the state reviews the housing production plan.  MassLive
  • Lakeway Commons, a 90,035 sqft plaza in Shrewsbury with Whole Foods, Starbucks, Tavern in the Square and Burton’s Grill and Bar, is up for sale. New York-based firm Newmark lists the property without an asking price — the site was once home to Spag’s and now honors its legacy.  MassLive
