CULTURE NEWS

  • The Worcester Art Museum displays a nearly 100-year-old global arms and armor collection that spans ancient Egypt to 19th-century Japan, featuring artifacts for all ages (including a Mandalorian helmet). A new immersive exhibit named Fever Dreams of a Cool-Breathed Earth will run from March 28 through Aug. 16.  Telegram & Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Medical students Justin Nguyen and Cedrick Chiu from UMass Chan have matched early into urology residency programs; Nguyen will train at University of California Davis and Chiu will start at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (match success precedes the March 20 general match).  UMass Chan Medical School
  • Data shows that 10 county school districts achieved over 80% higher education enrollment, with the Massachusetts Academy for Math and Science at 94% and Hopedale, Sutton and Shrewsbury following. In contrast, Worcester’s district had only 49% enrollment (from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education), compared to the county average of 64%.  MassLive

Healey declared a state emergency as a heavy blizzard with up to two feet of wet snow + 70 mph coastal winds continues today, prompting residents to stay off roads and prepare for power outages.
