- ➤ National Grid and its foundation announced a plan to distribute $5 million over the next two years to help eligible households facing high energy bills during this cold winter. - ➤ WPI announced a new bachelor of science in artificial intelligence program to address the growing gap in skilled AI workers. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Fallon Health CEO Manny Lopes said the company will not downsize as it merges with Mass General Brigham while regulators review the deal. The insurer plans to maintain jobs and services (in Worcester and central Mass.) as acquisition talks continue. Worcester Business Journal
- ➤ Heywood Healthcare (based in Gardner) is seeking a new chief medical officer as current CMO Dr. Frank Sweeney is set to retire; the system operates two of Central Massachusetts’ largest hospitals. Worcester Business Journal
- ➤ UMass Chan Medical School has licensed its siRNA therapy to nonprofit PLaN Therapeutics to work on a new treatment for a rare heart condition. - ➤ Peabody-based real estate research firm The Warren Group (data provided Tuesday) reported that home prices in Central Mass. climbed in 2025, rising faster than the statewide 3.7% increase as Worcester County prices rose 4.3% to $480,000 and Middlesex County prices increased 4.7% to $852,500.
