  • UMass Chan’s Job Dekker and the 4D Nucleome Consortium have mapped the 3-D folding of the human genome and identified 140,000 looping interactions in embryonic stem cells and fibroblasts, offering the most detailed view of the living genome to date (funded by NIH Common Fund).  UMass Chan Medical School

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Chintan Patel of Saint Vincent Hospital said the new Northborough urology office opened recently to offer preventive care and screening. He explained that patients can reduce risks by adopting healthy habits and staying current on tests for common issues (BPH, kidney stones, and prostate cancer).  Radio Worcester
  • State health officials reported three pediatric flu deaths this season, including one child who died Dec. 21 to 27. Hospitals treated thousands ill with flu and related viruses — officials urged residents to get free flu vaccines.  Telegram & Gazette
