The styles you’ll hear on November 29th run the gamut from traditional swing to very UNtraditional jazz rock, ballad, samba and jazz waltz tunes – dominated by high-energy instrumental arrangements from legendary big band arrangers such as Gordon Goodwin, Count Basie, Tom Kubis, Sammy Nestico, Dave Metzger, and John Clayton.
It will be an extra-special treat this year at Sanctuary to feature Maya Saturn out in front in her debut appearance with us, channelin’ Ella Fitzgerald and much, much more - only the best vocal treatments of seasonal classics.
Maya is a freshman at Berklee College of Music (class of '30) in Boston, majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production, with a minor in Dance. A gifted singer in jazz and other genres, she's active in the Boston, and New York City music scenes, as well as fronting the Maya Saturn Band. She's also an accomplished songwriter and composer.
In 2026 Maya earned the prestigious DownBeat Magazine Student Music Award Winner in the Outstanding Vocal Jazz Soloist category. She was also received the Jazz Choir Division "MVP" award at the storied University of New Hampshire Clark Terry Jazz Festival two years in a row ('25 and '26).
All of Maya's experience performing with vocal groups, as well as singing out in front of, and playing piano with, the acclaimed Foxborough High School Jazz Ensemble has prepared her incredibly well for the next 'big band chapter' in her rapidly-expanding professional music story. She has also sung with other professional big bands such as the Cameron Shave Jazz Orchestra, and the Kenny Hadley Legacy Big Band. We're very happy to welcome her to our stellar rotation of vocalists hailing from Greater Boston and New York City.

The Compaq Big Band has a strong connection to Maynard, having started out as the DECbigband at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in 1975, just a block or down Main Street in the Civil War era textile mill that was the for many years DEC headquarters – hence Maynard’s moniker of ‘Minicomputer Capital of the World”.
